About GuardTime

GuardTime is a data integrity service provider with a world-wide, scalable and attack resilient service architecture with easy-to use and open source application integration components.

GuardTime’s idea is that increased regulatory supervision and concepts such as cloud computing and eDiscovery require data to leave the hardware and for recipients of that data to verify that it has not been tampered since the point of archiving. Hence, the traditional approach to data archiving, the so-called “hardened box” is fundamentally flawed for the 21st century and any system should have the following properties to prove the integrity of its data.

• Transparent, public and auditable data verification.
• Free of keys, secrets and proprietary algorithms.
• Verificaton should be independent. There should be no need for a trusted third party.
• It must have the capacity to process billions of requests per second required to handle all the world’s data.

GuardTime was founded in Estonia by cryptography experts Dr Märt Saarepera and Dr Ahto Buldas along with internet visionary Joi Ito, and Ambient Sound Investments (ASI), a VC formed by the founding engineers of Skype. Read more about the investors here.
